https://www.thedailybeast.com/mayor-buttigieg-thinks-he-deserves-a-new-title-ambassador-pete?ref=home&utm_source=web_pushLooks like Mayor Pete might be heading to the UN to burnish his foreign policy credentials. Frankly, an out gay man who speaks multiple languages is great representation to all of those countries who are persecuting LGBTQ people.

This is how you BUILD a party. You work with the people you have and then give them the right opportunities to make themselves better and strongerto the benefit of all.

(9,244 posts)A candidate who can identify, not to mention analyze, the rise of illiberal regimes as a threat to our interests and can find Sudan and Algeria on the map, let alone speak intelligently about them, deserves praise. A candidate willing to explain that immigration is a national security issue because we want and need the talent of those seeking to come here to help innovate and contribute to the economy should get credit. A Democrat forcefully defending the good that the United States does in the world deserves encouragement. He set a high bar for other candidates. Lets see how they match up.

(32,017 posts)No doubt. He is better-prepared to handle American foreign policy than Trump.
But, since he cant be President this cycle, the position of Ambassador to the UN will really beef-up his resume.

(16,926 posts)One of the criticisms of Pete being a viable candidate for President was the his "government experience" was as a mayor of a mid-size city and he had no "national" experience.
Well, not counting the fact that he's brilliant and had an outstanding military career, and the fact that he does speak multiple languages fluently, the UN Ambassadorship should be just the right place for him - and certainly help comfort our foreign friends who had become disillusioned during the BunkerBoy administration.
