FLorida minimum wage will not reach $15/hour till 2026.

nice to get a few bumps next few years but no big enchilada til 2026.

"The measure would increase the state’s current $8.56-an-hour pay floor to $10 next year. For every year after that, the minimum wage would rise by $1 an hour until it hits $15 in 2026"

3. But in a country with low inflation (around 2%), that's not too unreasonable.

If inflation until 2026 comes in at the same clip it has since 2014, that would mean a 60% real increase.

Even accepting the "inflation's actually 5%" theory, it would still mean a 30% hike.

Not bad for a GOPee-governed state.

6. have you tried to raise a family on 8.00 an hour?

if so, how'd it work out?

Maybe you should move to floriduh and try it. I hate to tell you this but if you can't do it you're just promoting the puke meme about not having kids until you can afford to and to live within your bootstraps.

FFS, I made more than 15.00 here in floriduh in 1980 as a carpenter. I couldn't imagine trying to buy a car, food, pay rent, insurance (both auto and health), kids clothes, emergency fund, and all the other things associated with a "life" on 10.00.

BTW, I am not being snarky asking this.

7. Of course it's all inadequate - but I'm referring to the rate of increase itself

75% over 6 years, in a country with 2% inflation.

That's a very meaningful improvement in people's lives (50-60% hike in real terms) - and a small miracle coming from modern Florida governance, lest we forget.

the legislature and deathsentencedesantis will find a way to get around allowing it. This is Florida, felons can't vote, the labor force is fucking goofy to think they'd get a decent wage, medical marijuana is witchcraft, and Matt Gaetz is a legislator.

what could possibly go amiss?

inadequate wouldn't describe what will happen to low income families.

but the gov has proposed expanding the stand your ground law and giving permission for people to run over protestors.

Life is great in the Gunshine State.

Same assholes different day.

I hate the subject, but it's the truth and I dont give a shit if I pay more for stuff, I am flexible enough to change/adjust.

These imbeciles are not, apparently.
