Texas Kindergartener dies from Covid 19 within 15 hrs after she was diagnosed and sent home

Lastassija White first noticed something was wrong on October 27. That's when her 5-year-old daughter, Tagan Drone, began acting lethargic. In the days that followed, the child's symptoms only worsened, until the Texas mother became so worried, she rushed her daughter to the ER. It was there on October 29 that the 5-year-old was diagnosed with the coronavirus. Little did the mom know that less than a day later, her daughter would be dead.

At first, Tagan's symptoms seemed benign.
"She was just sleeping, sleeping, sleeping," her mother told KAMR. "That went on until Tuesday and Wednesday. She was still eating and drinking, and then Wednesday night she started throwing up."

ER doctors quickly diagnosed the little girl with the novel coronavirus but told her mother she had nothing to worry about. In fact, they even sent her home, telling White that "she would be fine."


Tagan was found unresponsive in bed the next morning.
Though she was still breathing and her mother immediately called 911, there was nothing doctors could do. She was pronounced dead later that morning, leaving her family absolutely devastated.
White still can't believe what happened.
"My daughter was perfectly healthy," she told KAMR. "Perfectly healthy. There's no way that should have happened. And [the doctor] came in, they discharged us and just told me that she would be fine. It doesn't affect kids, not to have her around anybody older."
