or not? A 74 year old man is holding up an entire country with a tantrum befitting a five year old.
Decades ago I conducted a review with a student who had failed the course.
I used to try and see what they knew before going over the final exam questions. As with all persons who wanted reviews, I checked his course work essays and his mid-term exam grades. He had failed all of them. So I asked the student to name four modules on the course outline. He couldn't name one. At the end of the review he said he still didn't understand why he failed.
I was so pissed that this arrogant entitled idiot had wasted my time asking for a review. The institution asked him to withdraw the next year. Turns out it wasn't just my course - he failed in every fucking course and blamed everyone but himself. He was cut from the same cloth as the Con.
Fuck the Killa Con.

(18,671 posts)He'll have years to relive and contemplate his crushing loss over and over and over and over again. He needs to do it on his own time, on his own dime, though. We don't give a shit whether he concedes or not. He'll be gone regardless.

(268,668 posts)Who the fuck is Donald Trump - just another person who lost an election.
What's worse is that after being responsible for all these deaths and infections, he had the nerve to run for reelection.

(6,333 posts)Used to see some of the same BS in the corporate world. gus would come in whining about not getting promoted. I'd ask them how he think they've been doing over the past 2-3 years.
I tell them (a la jeopardy???) "please phrase your answer in the context of our corporate key performance measures. most of the whiners couldn't do it...couldn't even put their strengths in the framework. most didn't even know have the measures.
We can have a discussion about if the key performance measures were right/inclusaionary/balanced/whatever another time but they were the promotion criteria in the organization. And these guys usually couldn't have a coherent conversation about them.
discussions usually ended quickly with me being "the bad guy".
Oh well..

(16,616 posts)Paraphrasing: how dare he even have had the temerity to run for a second term after killing a quarter of a million Americans.
I can't even get past that. That was one of the truest things I've read all year.
It's an insult to every American that he even ran for re-election.
malaise
(268,668 posts)while we put up with this shit. No one responsible for all these deaths and infections should contemplate reelection. It's that simple.
All messaging should include the fact that he is responsible for this massive death count. And not in polite terms.

But the media has become a monster that doesn't care if something is true or false, only if it is controversial, or even better, sensational, the proverbial train wreck that keeps on giving.
The media will be the ones who decree if THAT particular horse (the outrage of the hour), is ACTUALLY dead, or not...
And THAT all revolves around either PROFIT or POWER... (he typed while looking at his hand, as he almost walked in front of a mac truck)

(58,785 posts)followed a Hitler or Stalin, a real strongman, but got him instead. They're raging, not just him.
And "they" now include Republicans in office.
The Republican Party in the U.S. has retreated from upholding democratic norms in recent years, said Anna Lührmann, a political scientist at the University of Gothenburg in Sweden and a former member of the German parliament. Its rhetoric is closer to authoritarian parties, such as AKP in Turkey and Fidesz in Hungary. ...
For the project, researchers recruited more than 600 political scientists around the world to make annual assessments of over 2000 political parties adherence to a number of key small-D democratic values. Those assessments are combined into the main measure in the chart below, which tracks parties overall commitment to democracy. Lührmann points out that the Republican Party score started to edge downward during the Obama administration but fell off a cliff in 2016 with the ascent of Trump.
The Democratic Party, by contrast, hasnt changed much. This is a prime example of what political scientists call asymmetric polarization a growing partisan gap driven almost entirely by the actions of the Republican Party. While V-Dems data only runs through 2018, that asymmetry has only become more apparent in the aftermath of this election, Lührmann said: It is disturbing that most leading Republicans are still not objecting to President Trumps baseless claims of electoral fraud and attempts to declare himself the winner.
As a result, she says, GOP scores are likely to sink further when 2020 data is released. ...
Consider the demonization of political opponents: In 2006, V-Dems experts judged that GOP leaders usually did not resort to demonization and severe personal attacks in characterizing the Democratic Party.
But the rise of the tea party was a turning point, research shows. Angry protesters have frequently made claims ranging from proclaiming Obamas socialist intentions to making explicit Nazi comparisons to suggesting that the President is defying or even subverting the Constitution, the Anti-Defamation League wrote at the time. By 2016, that sort of rhetoric had become the norm among GOP leaders.
Encouraging violence has become alarmingly common. From the 1970s through roughly 2010, V-Dems experts note that both Republican and Democratic leaders consistently rejected the use of violence against political opponents. For Republicans, that began to change under Trump. ... Many GOP supporters have taken these messages to heart, with news reports documenting dozens of cases of violent crimes committed in Trumps name.

(58,785 posts)The 2020 graph that's coming should show accelerating Republican free fall into authoritarianism, as Democrats continued to hold democracy's line.
(Since Sanders ran as a Democrat, his anti-democracy behaviors may have been included in the factors analyzed for Dems in 2016. But they failed completely among Democratic superdelegates, while half of his eagerly supportive base subsequently voted RW to elect Trump/GOP and the other half also refused to vote Democratic, so I wonder how they categorized this overlap between LW and RW authoritarian populism.)
