The opposite of Trump

I once had the opportunity to meet Sir Edmund Hillary. A team I was on had just completed a climb in Himalayas and Sir Edmund was the Ambassador from New Zealand to India. He gave us an office visit. He was incredibly gracious, humble, and attentive to us much lesser talented climbers. I asked him directly when he thought he would make the summit. He answered that question by discussing the greatness of his Nepalese partner Tenzing Norgay, born Namgyal Wangdi, and how they stood on the summit together.

He lost his wife and a daughter in 1975 while they were on their way to help Hillary establish a hospital in Phaphlu. Hillary spent much of the rest of his life dedicated to the people of Nepal.

The world lost an incredible light when he died in 2008.
