When they called it, Biden probably had 2:1 odds in his favor. I wouldn’t call something until it’s at least 20:1. They dodged a bullet because reputation us staked on higher confidence than 2:1.

Arizona being called for Biden kept Election Night from being a clusterf**k because it made it look like Joe would still win with 270 while everything else was going wrong.

Obviously that was never Fox's or the AP's intention, but it was a LIFESAVER for our nervous systems and, I would suggest, for the final election results being readily accepted by the reality-based community.

AND it's pissed off a ton of the Fox-watching cultists who were loyal to Fox for all those years.

It was a miracle that they called it so early and I'm not really being hyperbolic. Thank god they did.

And, I suspect Cindy McCain helped a lot, too. McCain was a favorite son, and Trump was horrible to him.

I remember when Cindy came unexpectedly out for marriage equality a couple years before the SCOTUS decision, and I've always liked her since then.

And, thanks for that about Cindy McCain coming out for Marriage Equality when she did. I didn't know that.

should be ~15000 ballots

I see it's about 16,700 mostly in Maricopa and Pima.

NM used to issue PSAs about not going to AZ without a birth certificate or other valid ID besides a driver's license since they got their knickers in a racist twist over our program of licensing undocumented workers with licenses that were VERY DIFFERENT so we could cut down on the number of uninsured drivers on the roads.

Now they've turned blue. OK, pale powder blue, but I'll certainly take it.

I knew we'd have a few surprises on election night, AZ was a big one. People I know there certainly didn't expect it. Friends in NV were pretty sure it was going blue, as were friends in PA.

I don't expect it to last, but it was good to see so much of the SW turning blue. My evil plan of littering laundromats with copies of MoJo, The Nation and Harper's seems to be working.

AZ did an audit and found no fraud.

A recount can only occur if a race is within 200 votes or .1 %, whichever is less (Biden is leading by 11k votes and will likely end up winning by about that amount)

Biden will win AZ and it will soon be certified once all the votes (about 16k left) are counted.
