So, is Arizona "officially" BLUE?

Biden wins their Electoral Votes
Kelly wins and now both Senators are Democrats
They have nine Representatives, five are Democrats, four are republicans

Now we have to do something about their governor!

1. It went blue but is not a blue state as you would say about California

It would be considered a purple or swing state. But it has potential to become a blue state the way Colorado has become one.

I would call this a purple state as Biden won but without much to spare.

We will see about Gov. Ducey in a couple years. It would be nice if Scott Kelly would run against him but I'm just thinking out loud.

...he cannot run for another term. He's limited to two terms, 8 years max. He was elected in 2015.

Just because Madison and Milwaukee are blue didn't mean anything to the Republican legislators.

Walker and Tommy Thompson were governors for an awful long time.

"Blue" means you are called "blue" as soon as the polls close.

Was tight in 2008 but swung blue pretty not long after outside of the gerrymandered state legislatures.

11. That is what I am thinking. VA went from Red to Purple to Blue very quick.

The same trends are in play in AZ. Increased urbanization, increased high tech workforce, increased number of college educated in the workforce. Nurture it a bit and AZ could be solidly blue in 8 years.

Blue voters only vote when really pissed.

Red voters are always really pissed.

14. Uh-uh. Only those who vote get to choose the color of their power.

The power they don't direct is very real and sought by both parties, but since most nonvoters are lefties, Republicans usually benefit more. I.e., not voting normally makes districts and states MORE RED.

After all,

* When someone they would have voted for wins anyway, nonvoters do little damage in that race.

* When someone they would have directed their power against wins, nonvoters assisted that person to win -- and they helped defeat the person they would have voted for.

In 2016 nonvoters greatly outnumbered Trump voters and by not stopping them became effectively joined them to elect Trump, i.e., became part of the "red" force.

What they claimed they were for and against was irrelevant -- by their own choice.
