(294,171 posts)The mudslides are horrific. Mexico. Jamaica and Cuba got hit pretty hard as well. There has been significant loss of life already from Zeta and Eta.

(35,165 posts)to go into Honduras to see the country on our way to Copan it was amazing to see how the clear cutting had made the mountains sheer mud or dirt. The little houses that all had their yards planted in coffee were only temporary because when the rain came they knew they could lose it all. Mountain after mountain of dirt and mud all down the sides we saw and above little houses full of families. It terrifies me to this day thinking about what a mudslide would be like and I worry about those people from so long ago.

(294,171 posts)not to mention roads and bridges. The loss of life here was way less than in Guatemala and Honduras.

(294,171 posts)hurricanes. Word is that our rainy season will continue until January. That would be devastating. We can't handle another drop.
