and 10 thousand "reminders" that Steve Schmidt is "one of them" -- doesn't add a single candlewatt to a situation that is already thoroughly explored, and made abundantly clear.

At this point it's just kind of boring -- and repetitious. ---- ----

of appreciating BOTH the contributions to this election cycle -- AND the fact that they originate from people that reside in the opposing camp -- means only that they have developed a degree of discernment and ethical maturity -- and not that they are blind to the particulars of the situation. That's the way a lot of grown-ups approach the world.

But thanks for your efforts to get us all back on the right track.

Fri Nov 13, 2020, 03:16 PM
Nov 2020

If someone else is giving my political opponents the raspberry, for the most part, I'm fine with it. I'll do what I'm doing to win the day for my political philosophy, and stay out of the other fellow's way.

What that doesn't mean is that just because an opponent is now working my side of the street, he's not necessarily my new best friend. I'm not going to contribute to the Lincoln Project, but I won't interfere in their play against Trump either. When the battle is over, I'm also not going to let them drive the agenda. Thanks for your help, but the rest of us who have been carrying this fight for decades are going to run things now that we're in control

...even if they believe those interests are somewhat different than Democrats do.

There will always be opposition to what Democrats want. That's what happens in a democracy. Some of those differences will be maddening. But it's much better to have a principled opposition who at least shares a few common core American values than to have the delusional, hateful fascists that the rest of the Republican party has become.

Some of the LP guys are perhaps merely opportunists. I'll accept that's possible. But by word and deed I think they deserve the benefit of the doubt for what they're doing now. They might even regret some of the positions they held in the past, and the compromises they made to push some Republican causes.

being on our side politically makes no sense to me. Of course they're not; they're conservatives. They're expressing being on the side of democracy, preventing authoritarian rule. It has never been about policy, yet they fight for our right as the majority to actually govern if that's what the people want. I admire them for their fight.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2020/11/13/samuel-alitos-provocative-unusually-political-speech/

snip-"It’s against that backdrop that one of those justices, Samuel Alito, delivered an unusually political speech Thursday night to the Federalist Society. Alito alleged persecution of cultural conservatives — even, he suggested in some cases, by the court he serves on. He also weighed in on a number of hot-button political issues including abortion, LGBT rights and coronavirus restrictions, often airing grievances about how the court has decided those cases.

Here are a few key sections of the speech.

Same-sex marriage
In one of the most political sections of his speech, Alito doubled down on his dissent in the Supreme Court’s 2015 case legalizing same-sex marriage. Alito said at the time that the decision “will be used to vilify Americans who are unwilling to assent to the new orthodoxy."

snip-"Targeting five Democratic senators
In another particularly political section, Alito went after five Democratic senators whom he accused of “an affront to the Constitution and the rule of law.

There is way more then I can bring it over here..

Steve Schmidt, helped get that guy on SCOTUS, Alito is looking to hurt me.

Whatever was done in the past doesn't change the help he's giving us today. Would "Nadine" prefer to drown in the ocean rather than to grab hold of a life preserver ring tossed to her by Schmidt? Would she prefer to cling to the nearest iceberg rather than to climb into a lifeboat that Schmidt was also in?

is a leading indicator that personal bias is being given a much greater priority than rational thought. I certainly hope the author of this twitter post is able to rise above that in the future.

Good luck!

For myself, I'm rather happy Biden won, and am grateful to all the tools in the toolbox that were instrumental in the creation of that victory; however, I can certainly understand the desire to criticize, minimize, or even deny the existence of that assistance if one's bias is held dear.

He attacked Trump consistently, though, so he helped with the election of JRB and KDH. He is a Republican, so he'll never get my vote. What you point out is true enough, but completely irrelevant to this election.
