Remember a couple years ago when there was an anonymous letter to the NYT

( I think it was the Times ) where some WH insider said he and others were staying with Trump to try to minimize the damage he was doing? The adults in the room? I wonder who that was and if they are still around? I can't think of anyone in the WH who might still be tring to be the adult in the room. I think there were a few early on who weren't totaaly brain dead oe brain washed, but can't think of anyone for quite some time.

there are only a few truly big gun cabinet positions that can have global impact in terms of security/war and are sussed into a shedload of the most important threat matrixes

Secretary of State
Secretary of the Treasury
Secretary of Defense
Attorney General
Secretary of Homeland Security
Director of National Intelligence
Director of the Central Intelligence Agency

their chiefs of staff have a lot of power and insight into what is going on at some of the deepest levels

at the time of the op-ed. That is hardly a "senior" level administration job, and the NYT overstated his role to hype up the piece.

Get your facts straight.

Next to the Secretary and Chief of Staff, it is the most senior position in the Department of Homeland Security.

What do you think the "Administration" is?

A presidential administration is made up of the White House staff (a pretty small operation comprised mostly of fairly junior level people) and the executive departments and agencies. The Secretary of a department is the most senior person in the department. His or her Chief of Staff is the second most senior person in the agency. They actually hold more power and influence than the Deputy Secretary and Assistant Secretaries. The Deputy Chief of Staff is second only to the Chief of Staff in power and influence within a department. The two positions are essentially the right and left hands of the Secretary and everyone in the department knows it.

They are in the highest Senior Executive Service level in government, hold the highest top security clearances granted in government (higher than most White House staffs) and are the key point people in the nation's national security structure.

The Department of Homeland Security is, along with Defense and State, one of the most powerful departments in any Administration. Their Chief of Staff and DCOS are not some mere junior level functionaries. They are among THE most senior people in the administration.

There may be many reasons to discredit this guy. But claiming he didn't hold a senior position in the administration or that he was a "nobody" isn't one of them.

Taylor's op-ed left the impression that he worked at the cabinet level or as the senior staff at the White House. He was none of those things. His position does not even appear in the State Department's order of precedence.

Taylor penned a cowardly op-ed in which he refused to disclose his name, then lied about it afterwards. Let's not play along with charade or reward him any further.
