Gov. Doug Burgum's executive order Friday night came as a surprise and only hours before the state recorded new daily records for hospitalizations and infections. Throughout the pandemic, the former software executive had been leaving it to individuals to take personal responsibility for slowing the spread of the virus, beseeching the public during his weekly press briefings to wear masks but emphasizing a light touch by government.

(22,067 posts)These Republican governors are so stupid. Their fear of Trump's wrath is pathetic. Most importantly, their lack of concern for their states' citizens is nearly criminal.

(7,510 posts)Surprising that the Republicans, who so revere the founding fathers, can't heed one of the most famous saying in Poor Richard's Amanac by Ben Franklin.

When making clothing or other items using the sewing arts, repairing a small rip with one stitch means the tear is less likely to get bigger, and need more - like nine - extra stitches later on.
In other words, solve a problem early before it becomes a larger difficulty requiring more work later.
Republicans are reprobates. Their knowledge of history is limited (Im being generous!) and their understanding of the Constitution is even more stunted. They know nothing and their greed blinds them to their hypocrisy.

(13,198 posts)Trump and his followers screwed up early in this thing and then did what should be unthinkable. They redefined failure as success. They cheered and stomped their poor misguided followers into going along with it. Now we have a 90% successful vaccine coming, and Trump and his dufus butt kissers were pushing for herd immunity by allowing people to die. All to keep a jerk named Donald Trump in an office he never had any business occupying.
I feel sorry for these people. They didn't check their facts and shouldn't have had to. Trump and his Republicans dragged their followers into a moral abyss.
