Not that we're all going to die, of course. But such a large percentage of Americans are just stupid, ignorant or represent examples of the Dunning -Kruger effect.

I have family members who still think the virus is a hoax! We're closing in on 300,000 deaths since March(!) and they think this is fake. One cousin said that wearing masks is part of the Democrats socialist plot to deny all Americans their rights. Insane.

We're having exactly three people at our Thanksgiving table: my son, my wife and me. I would love to dine with my 89-year old father, my sister and her family and my brother and his family as we've done for decades. Not this year.

We were walking in NYC this afternoon and I was appalled how many people were not wearing masks! This is New York State which is fighting really hard to stem the tide of the virus and yet, some people don't seem to care. It's baffling.

It makes us feel like it's everyone for themselves. Not a good look for America.

We miss our parents, grandparents, children, other relatives, siblings, and friends, however, we don’t want to risk our lives or theirs. We haven’t even met the newest member of our family, a baby girl, because of COVID19.

We were starting to plan to have dinner out in the car port, and I made tentative reservations at a hotel. But at this point doesn't sound like its going to happen. Its a bummer, but lots of worse things, like getting people sick or dying.

I have a friend who keeps spouting how its all exaggerated. Yes, I very likely wouldn't die. But I could get very sick and I could give it to someone else. That's the part the deniers don't bother to take into account; spreading it to others.

20. My sister is throwing a Thanksgiving dinner AND birthday party for her 7 yr old daughter

Because her birthday is on the 29th, they combine them.

All the family, including my 80-yr old grandparents and my brother-in-law's father who is in poor health, AND all my niece's school and neighborhood friends, AND some of my sister's coworkers and THEIR kids. Probably 20 people in one house, in central Minnesota, when it's 40F outside. No opening windows or doors for ventilation.

They're Trump-voting anti-maskers. I'll be staying home, no matter how much they try to guilt me into driving up north.

I honestly don't expect both of my grandparents to survive this shit.

We've canceled our plans to spend Tgiving with our kids in DC, as did DIL's family. We'll spend Christmas with my sis and BIL, but we'll be outside for most of it (Florida).

It's hard to not be with them but makes no sense to endanger ourselves and others.

Nuclear families can do thanksgiving together, and simply Zoom in with extended family and friends doing the same thing. They can also share some of what they made with each other, just bag it up and deliver it wearing a mask.

People just have to sacrifice - it's better than being dead - and in all likelihood we'll be through this next year when we have a real president and the vaccine is widely distributed.
