tweet from South Dakota ER Nurse - there are Covid patients who don't think it's real.

I have a night off from the hospital. As I’m on my couch with my dog I can’t help but think of the Covid patients the last few days. The ones that stick out are those who still don’t believe the virus is real. The ones who scream at you for a magic medicine and that Joe Biden is

Going to ruin the USA. All while gasping for breath on 100% Vapotherm. They tell you there must be another reason they are sick. They call you names and ask why you have to wear all that “stuff” because they don’t have COViD because it’s not real. Yes. This really happens. And

I can’t stop thinking about it. These people really think this isn’t going to happen to them. And then they stop yelling at you when they get intubated. It’s like a fucking horror movie that never ends. There’s no credits that roll. You just go back and do it all over again.

Which is what I will do for the next three nights. But tonight. It’s me and Cliff and Oreo ice cream. And how ironic I have on my “home”
Hoodie. The South Dakota I love seems far away right now.

Wow, so sad.

I don’t know how to address this crisis of ignorance without violating the First Amendment.

Even reinstating the Fairness Doctrine, if it could be done, wouldn’t fix this, I fear.

wouldn’t help much because it only applied to airwave radio and TV. Cable news and social media wouldn’t be affected.

To admit it's the virus they've been warned about is to admit they were wrong in their beliefs, and that ain't gonna happen.

about politics? That is so unreal. Maybe there should be a Covid-denier room where they get no treatment for covid but have a phone with trump on speed dial.

They've got right-wing TV and radio on during their every waking moment. If they socialize at all, they only spend time with people who agree with them 100% of the time. They literally never think about anything else, and they stay angry, all of the time. And they've been so cocooned in their little echo chamber where they never, ever hear anyone disagree with them, that they consider it a personal attack when someone contradicts what they believe, and they fly into a rage.

That's the reason so many families have been disrupted by politics. If they won't respect their family members enough to calm down and refrain from being abusive, why would they behave any better with medical professionals who are treating them?

4. So sorry for the idiots in your state and how they treat you.

In many cases it's their complete idiocy which caused them and often other of their family members to get sick. Too bad they don't stay at home. Since it's not real anyway, why not?

They certainly don't "deserve" to endanger good folks like yourself, but that's just what they want to do, in their spite filled rage. Thankfully, there are good people who truly cherish the care you give to their family members, even if the sick person is a total ass. I hope these good people can help make up for the very real red asses you have infecting your state.

Being stupid and a denier isn't helping their case or health.

Their ignorance is getting them intubated.

It's a hoax,oh but I know five Guy's who have had it. Yup,but,I do wear a mask when I go to HyVee and Runnings, cause those Liberals demand I do .

He and his spouse have a truck load of underlying medical issues and this is their attitude.

Welcome to South Dakota, where Ignorance is Bliss and the home of the Blissfully Ignorant. And masks are not required.
