Like they used to have anti-popes when two factions claimed the papacy?
What if he has someone swear him in in January 20th?
What then? Who will the military view as the CoC? Who will the USSS believe to be the true president?

It's pretty simple really. Anyone in the military, government, or anywhere else really that were to recognize him as President would ge guilty of another word.
Treason.

(891 posts)Trump's presidency ends at noon on January 20th. Anyone in the military following Trump after that would be following unlawful orders. Also, all of the property of the military belongs to the United States government and all funding comes from the United States government.
If the United States was a small country, then it may have been worth worrying about Trump's coup attempt having any chance of success. However, America is very institutionally complex so it would require tens or hundreds of thousands of people simultaneously breaking the law for such a plan to ever succeed.

If two competing entities claim to be president, that leaves a lot of room for chaos.
