(16,254 posts)minds is unimaginable and scary as hell.
I could understand a few people following him, but over 70 million when the majority of the world understands how dangerous he is? It's as though we've had a monster akin to Charles Manson in charge.
My greatest fear of COVID is suffocating, yet that doesn't even change their minds? Incredible.

(17,826 posts)Leaving it up to the individual to pick up enough knowledge so that they can make sound determinations about what the facts are is clearly not working. The reason we don't teach critical thinking is because those who profit from people's ignorance stand in the way. People's belief that their ignorance is just as good as someone else's knowledge is the biggest obstacle to our country's progress.

(58,785 posts)once they have to lie there alone in bad trouble and unable to act out their political loyalty. Cared for by kind professionals who tell truth from behind their shields but can't promise they'll live.
The really crazy ones may take it very differently. I took a picture of a pair of nurses in the Covid ward I was in until I ruled out to show my family. With double masks, face shields, and everything else covered, they looked like alien kidnappers come to open me up. Lol, they woke me at 2 in the morning (of course), and I made sure the clock behind them was in the picture. They immediately reassured me that they were my friends and were taking good care of me, and I assumed it wasn't all about calming rational fears.
Hope they're coming through all this well.

(11,885 posts)By only showing the truth , and stop showing trump and his people push lie after lie on their programs. These non-believers have been conned into believing pure BS , and propaganda instead, and until this is stopped it will continue to hurt this country, and fill up hospitals. Just look at how many still go out with out wearing a mask, or still get in large groups. I have relatives in the medical field I'm sure have seen the same thing.

(58,785 posts)spreading deadly disease for political reasons is huge news we all need to know about, though. The difference between information and propaganda.

(29,785 posts)The FCC prohibits broadcasting false information about a crime or a catastrophe if the broadcaster knows the information is false and will cause substantial "public harm" if aired.
FCC rules specifically say that "the public harm: must begin immediately and cause direct and actual damage to property or the health or safety of the general public; or divert law enforcement or public health and safety authorities from their duties."
Broadcasters may air disclaimers that clearly characterize programming as fiction to avoid violating FCC rules about public harm.
Broadcasting false content during news programming
The FCC is prohibited by law from engaging in censorship or infringing on First Amendment rights of the press. It is, however, illegal for broadcasters to intentionally distort the news, and the FCC may act on complaints if there is documented evidence of such behavior from persons with direct personal knowledge. For more information, please see our consumer guide, Complaints About Broadcast Journalism.
Broadcasters may not intentionally distort the news. The FCC states that "rigging or slanting the news is a most heinous act against the public interest."
What if I have comments or concerns about a specific news broadcast or commentary?
All comments and/or concerns about a specific news broadcast or commentary should be directed to the local station and network involved, so that the people responsible for making the programming decisions can become better informed about audience opinion.
What can the FCC do?
The FCC may act only when it has received documented evidence, such as testimony from persons who have direct personal knowledge of an intentional falsification of the news. Without such documented evidence, the FCC generally cannot intervene.
Theyre not distorting the news when they parrot him, but theyve gone much farther than that.

(4,472 posts)..stop acting like selfish morons and do what needs to be done to stop the virus! Wear a f***ing mask and stay home! I am especially troubled when I see people in the medical community pretend the virus isn't real, even when they treat the sick and dying Covid patients. God, how thick do their skulls and hearts have to be?
