We haven't yet reached the peak on this wave of Covid.

If we continue to go up at the rate we’ve been going we may hit 200K cases by the end of this week.

Where is the top?

I have a simple question. In what part of the country do people still resist (in fairly large numbers) not wearing a mask.

In Orlando and the immediate suburbs it’s 99.999%. My wife said an anti-masker was ranting at the TV in the dentist waiting room today when Biden came on. He wasn’t wearing one and she was shocked the dentist was not enforcing it (Greenberg Dental for any locals). Anyway, I never see someone without a mask in any building, conveyance, or any public place (especially in doors) without a mask. What part of America still hasn’t got the message?

Early in this surge, the Illinois Department of Public Health did an outbreak analysis.
Suspecting school reopenings would he a major lever, they were surprised to find that not to be case.
Bars, restaurants (not following the 50% rule) and "COVID fatigue" were the primary factors.
The latter was defined as large private gatherings of people escaping COVID. Parties of 40, or 60, or a hundred.
Drinking, no masks, all in a couple yards
Northwest Illinois blew up over about 10 such parties. So did the county I live in, & the one directly south.
They're not "going out to the bars", but they might as well have.
But, absent an objecting neighbor calling the cops, there's little to stop them.
Then hundreds get infected.
Those parties can't just be happening in Illinois!

I’ve been wondering why as they have been 10k+ everyday for the last week at least, maybe longer?

Yesterday. I count 10 of the last 11 days over 10,000. The one that isn't, is barely below.
Here's a link to Illinois numbers.

I check NC and NM where my best friend lives. The #’s there have been low until recently and still lower than NC, but their gov locked down recently
I wish we would shut down here now as our #’s are climbing ...

Nobody will listen.
People who are willing to mask, minimize public contact, stay 6' apart, etc. don't need a shutdown.
A shutdown to force compliance won't affect people who aren't making the effort now. Including the business owners.
And, we've got elected sheriffs who don't want to enforce the mandates because they have to get reelected.
I think it's going to be near Armageddon before it's accepted by the vast majority as a must.

Recently in my county hundreds of cases in more than a dozen towns have been traced to one Pentecostal church, where they refused to wear masks, distance, or take any other precautions during their services and activities.

“I have a foreboding of an America in my children's or grandchildren's time -- when the United States is a service and information economy; when nearly all the manufacturing industries have slipped away to other countries; when awesome technological powers are in the hands of a very few, and no one representing the public interest can even grasp the issues; when the people have lost the ability to set their own agendas or knowledgeably question those in authority; when, clutching our crystals and nervously consulting our horoscopes, our critical faculties in decline, unable to distinguish between what feels good and what's true, we slide, almost without noticing, back into superstition and darkness...

The dumbing down of American is most evident in the slow decay of substantive content in the enormously influential media, the 30 second sound bites (now down to 10 seconds or less), lowest common denominator programming, credulous presentations on pseudoscience and superstition, but especially a kind of celebration of ignorance”

GOP has been in a positive feedback loop for decades -- feeding sociopathic billionaires while robbing basic education and other needs from poor and middle class, the billionaire club feeds GOP while funding a propaganda machine that promotes defunding education and other social programs, and around and around it goes. Moderates and compromisers have been systematically weeded from GOP until we have the fact-denying, extremist cult of today.

...(there are 2) has that message on their electronic sign.
"No mask, we cannot serve you."
That said, when I was there 95% of people wear masks.
Still, the new owners targeted the other 5% with their sign.
Finally; old biker dude there last week. Wearing a "Trump 2020: Fuch Your Feelings" mask.
But, he was still wearing a mask.

cities, everyone masked and socially distant. In the rural areas where Id stop to get gas, no one did. One gas station had Minatory signs everywhere..
No cell phones on in line, no 20s, Don't ask me to break your big bill, no refills, don't put coffee cups in the trash can...

And yet
.."you can't tell me to wear a mask!"

Anyway, so far in not one rural area in four states have u seen even token compliance, even right off the interstate.

In the big chains, tbe staff is compliant, but most customers are not. I don't linger. And I double mask and wear latex gloves.

Lots of Trump bumper stickers.

"Tracking chips for people are a great deal more expensive than for dogs, so the Deep State issues mask orders. Everyone who follows orders doesn't have to have a chip, because they show how easy they are to control. The Deep State operatives then only have to go after people without a mask -- they're the ones who get tracking chips implanted. Easy solution: wear a mask to trick 'em!"

I refuse to shop locally because there are always idiots not wearing masks in local stores, often including people working there. Once a week, I drive 20 miles to the outskirts of Pittsburgh to get my groceries because mask compliance is nearly 100% closer to the city. There’s really a very striking geographical difference in mask usage between red and blue areas here.

that was when figures were 150,00 new cases a day, 60,000 hospitalizations and 1200 deaths. He also mentioned that 400,000 new cases a day was probably coming.
