Deb is being considered for a cabinet position.

I believe retiring Senator Tom Udall of this state is also under consideration, and I'd like to see him get it so she can continue directly serving the people of NM.

(25,853 posts)step up to that seat. Experience matters, and even though she's only served one term so far, she now has some knowledge about how things work in Congress.
Much, much better to nominate someone for that position who doesn't have to give up a seat in Congress. My concern is that Biden will go for the optics: Look! A Native for Secretary of the Interior! rather than someone who has spent years actually doing relevant things. As Udall has done.
My opinion, anyway.
