FYI, I do see many "re-envisioned" portraits of Jesus. He generally looks more masculine, with a thicker face and broader shoulders.

(8,377 posts)You know, since he was this good-looking European white guy hanging around the Middle East. His appearance must have really stood out, yet there is no mention of this in the scriptures.

(3,557 posts)I spent 13 months in Iraq in 2004-2005 and I conducted quite a bit of patrols while I was there. Every once in a while we'd see a random person with blond or red hair and blue eyes. It was completely freaky.
The explanation that was given to me was that these were the genetic relics left over from Alexander the great conquered the area around 300 b.c. and his soldiers fathered children along the way. Also, I guess that they could be the genetic relics of British colonialism earlier last century...
