It's not news

Shining an unprecedented spotlight on supporters of the losing presidential candidate, the press continues its four-year love affair with Trump voters. Forever centering them as the unequivocal focal point of American politics, news outlets are making sure to check in on them as they defiantly reject Trumps lopsided electoral loss to Joe Biden.
Journalists are swooping into GOP-friendly outposts such as Youngstown, Ohio (ABC News), Colorado Springs (Washington Post), and Mason, Texas (New York Times), for what seem like group-hug sessions, as the press continues to give close-minded Trump supporters a platform to spread untrue claims about the election and about Biden.
Did I miss all the stories about the 78 million Biden supporters who triumphed and their wants and needs and how rural-centric Trump supporters need to reach out and understand the massive urban/suburban majority in America? asked SiriusXM host, Michael Signorile, watching the flood of media attention given to Trump loyalists in recent days.
The medias firm fixation on Trump voters isnt normal the idea that our politics needs to concern itself with the bruised feelings of voters who supported the presidential loser has no basis in how the press traditionally views the election season. And yet, here we are as the press rushes in to hear and amplify Trump voters anger, angst and concern about the presidents loss, and push fabricated claims about voter fraud.

Biden is in bed with China.
For me to believe that Joe Biden got 78 million votes, I find that very hard to believe."
I will never accept a Biden win.
These mystery votes all came in for Biden and zero for Trump. Something is definitely fishy there.
I will not believe that [Biden] is a legitimate winner.
Everything I worked for, Biden wants to give to the immigrants to help them live, when they dont do nothing but sit on their butts.
It was a recipe for disaster when they decided to have these mail-in votes.
When we deal with globalists and liberalism, I would put absolutely nothing past them.
Whats the point of this endless media exercise? Whats the news value in providing a platform for Trump voters so they can regurgitate these hollow, and often hateful, claims on behalf of a candidate who just became only the fourth U.S. incumbent president in 150 years to lose his re-election bid?
Trump voters feelings arent news.

Or is this like the Gorsuch nomination? One set of stanards for them and a different one for us?

(21,464 posts)Amp up the divisions for the sake of ratings and who gives a damn if it results in such intense anger that violence breaks out, or the foundation of the country is at risk? That's just more "excitement" to report on and boost ratings even more.
Stupid fools. How free would their reporting be if a Trump coup was successful?

(9,988 posts)The logistics would be a horror, but Ive finally reached the point where I want to split into two countries. Let the Trampers create their own dystopia and leave us alone to build a country with a future. Democratic areas already create a large majority of the GDP (over 70%), and if we did not have the albatross of red states that take a lot and contribute a little we could build a fantastic country.
I know its a fantasy, but I feel like we will have no peace for the rest of my life because we will be fighting Trumpism and total ignorance all the time. Even when Trump leaves office, he will still use social media to roil his supporters until the day he dies or can no longer remember his own name (may that day come quickly). Every future election will be a nightmare because the Trump cult will just refuse to accept a Democratic win even for governors in red states.
New York prosecutions may have some impact, but I just cannot see the result being jail time for Trump, much as I would like that. And with his crazy supporters refusing even to acquire a passing acquaintance with the truth, turning him into a martyr persecuted by Democrats. What a mess.

(13,991 posts)Just dont move to the eastern portion of the state. Starting in Alamogordo, east NM is very conservative and similar to west Texas. As you said Santa Fe is great along with most of the rest of northern NM, Albuquerque, Las Cruces, and Grant County in the Southwest. Grant County is rural but for whatever reason, were pretty liberal and always vote blue.

Who cares? And why care?
"... the idea that our politics needs to concern itself with the bruised feelings of voters who supported the presidential loser" is a waste of time and of no interest to me. The onus is on the MAGAts to get over their having fallen for the con. Accept the truth, they lost and USA won.
Why MAGAts were willing to accept the lies, distortions, slanders, and slurs is for the MAGAts to learn. They were willing to follow and betray their families, themselves, their gods, and their country. It is up to the MAGAts to learn from their mistakes.

(5,801 posts)nonsense-spouting red don cult members become the go-to opposition to Biden's presidency.
Whenever Biden comes out with policy decisions, the media will run to these delusional cretins for the "opposing viewpoint."
They will continue to get widespread media coverage and the media will confer "legitimacy" onto their crackpottery.
And, underlying all this nonsense, is the desire in the boardrooms of these media companies to continue covering red don and his spew because ratings.

Conflict and "dirty laundry," as Don Henley would say, make for juicier news, therefore more viewer eyeballs they can sell to advertisers.

(3,111 posts)There was an inordinant amount of media attention given to whatever the Tea Party was doing 8 years ago, even when it was only a couple hundred protesters gathered. Now its funder, billionaire Charles Koch, says that was all a mistake.
In a democracy, it is supposed to be that every vote is counted, majority rules, and we move forward. The remedy when you lose an election is still-- and always has been-- THE NEXT ELECTION. When your candidate is not the winner, you take seat, and work hard for next time.
These people are ACTIVELY working to BREAK America's foundations. They should be given NO airtime. To the contrary, their seditious rantings need to be stomped out, and relegated to the dustbin of history.

(42 posts)Trump voters are a sufficiently large minority, sore feelings could discourage folks from viewing their programs and buying their products.
The concern of the media is with their own companies, not whether the government or their neighbors hurt the feelings of Republicans.
