just watching TV all day long, stuffing their faces with food they bought with SNAP money, and not doing any work at all.
"Those lazy, good-fer-nothin' sons-of-bitches! I work my ass off all day long, and they don't do nothin'!"
So how is it they tolerate this behavior from Trump? Doesn't it make them the tiniest bit angry that Trump does NO work whatsoever?

(10,069 posts)I met someone in 2014 who has been on assistance every day, and continues to be to this day (she's a relative now). Her two able bodied daughters are as well. When their checks are threatened they feign mental or physical disability, and get away with it.
It's clear to me that when she raves about the evil people on assistance, she's talking about black people in Statesboro, not her "good" white buddies who go to the local quasi-segregated mega-church, even though many there milk the system as well.
She does not think that what she's getting is the same thing, oddly. And she thinks it's ok for her daughter to get snap even when she has a really good job. That's "different" too.
*I don't begrudge people with kids getting food assistance. I'm sick to death of the wealthy tax breaks and as far as I'm concerned all people with kids can get food assistance. Just quit being hypocritical about it.

(11,397 posts)Like the rest of us do. The difference is in what the "unfairness" is attributed to. Conservatives have, at least since the time of Nixon been told that agitators (Hippies, Black Panthers, anti-war protestors) were making their lives more difficult. Reagan started or at least amplified the idea that "welfare queens" and "young bucks" (a racist term for strong Black men) were driving Cadillacs (another racist trope) and buying steaks with government aid. With the advent of right wing media like Fox and right wing radio, that message saturated conservatives to the point that they completely believe it without question.
It is a completely false narrative as most, if not all states require a welfare recipient to be looking for work, training for work, or working, to receive the benefit. Then, when you are working, benefits are reduced or eliminated based on earnings, leaving recipients in a precarious situation where they may be working, lose medical insurance (before the ACA or still in states that did not expand Medicaid) and worry about losing the job they just got and having to repeat the process of getting back on welfare.
Certainly there are people who try to game the system, but fraud levels in public benefits systems is typically pretty low.
Right wingers are fed lies constantly through right wing media and they have been conditioned to accept it.
Liberals attribute "unfairness" differently. We tend to look at "who has the power to really affect situations" and find that it is typically wealthy people and corporations who want to pay low to no taxes, who then shift the financial burden of public goods and services to the rest of us. It makes more sense, to us as liberals, that people with more money, more power, and more influence, are more likely to have an effect on our lives than people just struggling to get by. Not to right wingers I guess.
