It is quite a bit and Biden is worried about what to tell the public.

(146,254 posts)I do not expect him to tell the public very much about what he is learning. Then, however, I expect we will hear more.
During the transition period, I expect him to remain pretty much silent about the evils of the Trump administration.

(17,862 posts)The Republicans would, and do it at the most opportune time to acquire more power (Senate races).
Biden might want to go a little slowly until he gets the key state vote certifications (maybe even after the electoral college votes). You know about cornered rats.

(69 posts)Sadly, it is highly unlikely that Biden will want to create a stain on the US any more than there has already been. That's why I don't think they'll pursue federal, or even state, charges against him, or if they do, it's unlikely we'll ever see Trump in jail.
Imagine that - a former US President in jail. Our schools can't even acknowledge that Christopher Columbus was a slave-trading, genocidal maniac and we expect justice to be served here? Unlikely, from where I'm sitting.
We'll probably learn about all this stuff after the 50-year mark.
Sad times in American history for sure. Only way to learn from this is by exposing it and holding them accountable. Maybe I'm just a pessimist, but I don't see this happening.

(24,717 posts)Biden/Harris's moves...I gotta believe this time a new Dem admin will require accountability!
I wonder if others here have a similar sensation to mine: as I watch my preferred news channel, MSNBC, cover this period, I am getting a new sense of perspective. What I mean is, they (for example, Ali Velshi in for Rachel again last night) are going through stories from the last 4 years and it is coming together in a way I've not previously seen or felt. Like, the Emporer is clearly naked and the man behind the curtain is revealed as but an old doddering wimp.
I don't know if this is due to the trauma lifiting, or because drumpfs behavior in this transition following his loss is so patently pathetic and insane and weak...but the stories are resonating differently with me now, and I'm hoping for his former supporters, as well.

(69 posts)I've been pretty pessimistic most of my life, though I like to stroke my own ego and call it being a realist (ha), so I often go to the worst case scenario. So I hope that's what this is and that you're right.
God knows we need to start holding these officials accountable for the things they do. It's about time.
I don't have faith that Biden will but I am certainly open to be proven wrong!

(816 posts)he should utilize the power of the "bully pulpit" to the extreme. Fuck these assholes. The Dems need to spell it all out. Fuck this "move the country forward" bullshit. The current criminal organization occupying our White House must be held accountable. They MUST pay. No Quarter.
