Ted Cruz slams fellow senator as a 'complete ass' over wearing mask

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) called a Democratic senator a "complete ass" for asking that fellow lawmakers wear masks while in the chamber.

Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio) had asked Sen. Dan Sullivan (R-Alaska) to wear a mask while presiding over the Senate on Monday.

While Cruz argued that Sullivan was about 50 feet from Brown, and therefore didn't need to wear a mask, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and other public health authorities recommend that people use face coverings when in public indoor spaces and workspaces regardless of distance.

"This is idiotic," Cruz tweeted Monday night, adding that Brown "is being a complete ass. He wears a mask to speak - when nobody is remotely near him - as an ostentatious sign of fake virtue."

Lesser educated places and places with less resources are not having this fight. It is so ridiculous that our " leaders" are doing this.

Yet another straw man argument of the sort RWers resort to nine times out of ten, ascribing motives to the words or actions of a liberal. In a long line of "you think you're better than we are" dating back at least to school integration times, a slick way to avoid addressing the issure and to rile up the "common folk." This is where accusations of The Elite who want to tell us all how to live is rooted, and it makes me crazy.

A genuine concern for health (hey, our guy who wears a mask didn't get covid; your guy who mocks mask-wearing did) is turned into something phony and furthermore labeled as just for show. Cruz should get covid just as respirators run out.

During this crisis, the only reason for not wearing a mask in a public place is because you are a dick and want everyone to know it.

ALL of the other Senators in the chamber should throw copies of "Green Eggs and Ham" at him until he shuts up and cedes the floor or leaves the chamber.

Fuck that piece of spineless shit...Hey Ted, Trump disparaged your wife's looks and your dad's patriotism and you took it like a prison rape victim and became Trump's lackey anyway...don't think we all forgot that you piece of shit...

guidelines to suck up to Trump. Now that Trump is just a few weeks away from eviction and facing a number of legal battles, and they are all still willing to die on Stupid Hill.

They look like morons. Every other country in the world, rich or poor, is looking to their government leaders to set the example and implement established scientific guidelines to minimize exposure.

These handful of Republicans are alone in the world in their opposition to basic health guidelines. They've painted themselves into a corner to maintain their machismo, tough guy cosplay persona, but they have no escape route.

What are the odds that they will escape to virus after flaunting their idiotic political stance?
