(24,284 posts)They'll have to come out of denial somewhat after the swearing in. I know some of them never will. To be fair, I never considered Trump to be president either.

Perfect. Its our job to make sure that anyone who could lead them never makes it to power again.

(24,728 posts)I have a lot of fear right now.
One thing that gave me hope was seeing Cori Bush on MSNBC last night. She is the new AA congresswoman - I believe from Missouri. People like her - her election to Congress - give me hope. We need more of this!
FFS - on her mask she had the words "Breonna Taylor." Several GOP politicians actually greeted her as Breonna Taylor! They don't even know that Ms. Taylor was murdered by Kentucky LE, they just recognized the name.
I fear we are in a new Dark Ages in this country!

(16,616 posts)I even had a tentative schedule to try to regain my ability to sleep, and to do some creative stuff, maybe some writing (which I haven't done in 4 years).
Now, I don't really see an end in sight, not even Inauguration day.
I did understand Trump would behave badly after the election, but I didn't really think about how much it would impact Joe and Kamala. That's the most painful thing to me, is watching the transition destroyed, and imagining what the consequences will be. I simply didn't understand that the transition process itself could be uprooted.

(22,333 posts)There'll still be plenty of oppression to fight. I'm expecting lot of "resistance" energy to dissipate, though.

(166 posts)I 'll admit I about " lost it" last night after hearing about the assholes that would not certify the election in Detroit, Michigan. I had no idea this was going on as It didn't hit the 6:00 news hour. When I heard about this on Rachel Maddow show(from Ari) I LOST IT ! I am so sick of this criminal and his minions. I'm sure my neighbors heard me ranting and raving ! My dear husband is a saint. He let me spout off for awhile, talked me out of finding these election officials online and saying somethings I could get arrested for, and calmed me down. I'm still furious and in 2022 will champion for these (R) scumbags, so I'll wait and I will fume. I know this is what tRump wants, a civil war, and last night I was ready yoo! Luckily as fast as I found the info out, it was certified! I have about had living in this State of Michigan, though! The incidels and stupid liars are just too much !Thank God for the women running this state, for they have the balls to say and do anything!

(4,554 posts)I did not sleep well on election night and haven't since. Sometimes there seems no end to the destructiveness of Trump and his acolytes. And I suspect it will not be gone by a long shot after the inauguration. Trump et al will continue to divide and agitate as long as they are able to do so.
The "campaigning" for the midterms and 2024 I suspect will begin shortly....
In the meantime, priority number one (besides Covid) must be to holding Trump and his fellow criminals accountable for their crimes.

(13,979 posts)Hang in there. Trump and his minions will still be around, attempting to cause trouble but I advise tuning them out as much as is feasible. Its much better for our mental health to allow that Thing to occupy space in our head, rent-free.

(21,593 posts)I am exhausted with Covid concerns, election theft, racism and misogyny and all the rest. My latest is the realization that I will be one of the last to get the vaccine. I agree that those working on front-lines need it more but it will be a difficult time when friends and family start back to social activities and I won't be able to.

(21,331 posts)it consoles me. As bad, as stressful as Trump makes things, it is 10 times worse for him. He is a very very scared little boy who is lost in the wilderness. His pouting about the election being crooked are falling on deaf ears. He is not in good physical or mental shape. He will be a basket case by Jan. 20th.

(8,308 posts)I had a couple of days of relief but now I am back to being even more stressed than I was. I wish I could remove myself from the news but I believe not knowing would be even worse. All we can do now is wait and stay masked. And throw a little help Georgia's way.

(7,473 posts)tRump will not go gently.......! I believe he will do as much damage as he can before his time is up in January. It frightens me. I believe that he in the first stages of some warlike action that will make the transition even more difficult for Biden and his team. Revenge to him will be a reply to the fact that he lost.

Make suicide their best option and make sure they always have a piece of rope in their cells of sufficient length to do the job. All of his Republican enablers deserve the same fate.

Well, we DID 'break up' with Trump, but it will stay ugly as long as he can make it so, because he is a mean-spirited, ugly man.
