1. No way DeSantis will even consider such a move

He is of the same "head-in-the sand" camp as Trump. As a citizen of the state, I am on my own, and I know it. When I have to go for groceries or drugs, I have to be in the presence of mask-less idiots that want to get all in my space.

DeSantis, like the other Republican "leaders" are not taking any chances pissing off their Fascist base.
