President Donald Trumps campaign revised a pivotal Pennsylvania lawsuit seeking to block certification of the states election results, adding a proposal that the Republican-controlled state legislature choose the winner instead of voters.
This court should enter an order, declaration, and/or injunction that the results of the 2020 presidential general election are defective and providing for the Pennsylvania General Assembly to choose Pennsylvanias electors, the campaign said in the 86-page amended complaint it filed Wednesday evening.
Trump and many of his allies have previously raised the possibility of GOP lawmakers ignoring election results based on unsubstantiated fraud claims and directly appointing electors who will support the president. But Wednesdays filing is the first time the campaign has asked a court to order such a move. Pennsylvania Republican leaders have already said its not an option.
The amended suit makes several references to the importance of preventing fraud and points to a few examples of mail-in ballot fraud in Pennsylvania from 1999 and 2014.
But, despite Giulianis claims about a vast Democratic conspiracy, the campaigns complaint in the case fails to include a single allegation of fraud by any voter in the 2020 election.

(5,518 posts)However, it is striking to me how few actual humans stand in the way of it.
Once they get to the courts, we are relying on solitary humans to do the right thing. Tracing a pathway to the Supreme Court, it would probably only take a dozen or so to agree with this lunacy. While I have a great deal of respect in our courts, recent history has shown that the Courts are only as effective and honest as the process that puts them there.
It also makes me wonder if things would not go horribly worse if there was an effort to actually manufacture believable evidence. Even if it wasn't fully believed, it could be used as cover for right wing judges to provide favorable rulings.
It is great to dodge a bullet but it sucks to be in the line of fire at all.

As a note, that federal law they keep hanging on their hat on relates to elections that could not be "decided". Right now, Biden leads 45 by 82, 462 per the below screenshot (had refreshed the site about 15 minutes ago) -
