Romney says consequences of lame duck period are 'potentially more severe' than delayed transition

Republican Sen. Mitt Romney is warning that the consequences of actions taken by President Donald Trump during the lame duck period of his term are "potentially more severe" than those caused by the delayed presidential transition.

"The consequences of what's happening during this lame duck period, I think, are potentially more severe than the consequences associated with a late transition process," Romney, who represents Utah, told CNN's David Axelrod on an episode of "The Axe Files" podcast released Thursday.

Romney cited the Trump administration's plan to remove more troops from the Middle East as one lame duck move that could cause more damage than Trump's refusal to formally begin the transition process, saying he's spoken with foreigners who are "alarmed" by Trump's plan and wonder if they can still "trust" America.

"We have some 40 coalition members that also have troops there. For us to pull our troops out obviously puts our remaining troops in some danger, as well as their troops. And they wonder, 'how do we deal in a coalition with the United States leading it if there is a decision taken on a precipitous basis with which we may or may not have been familiar that puts our troops in jeopardy?'" he said.

Unfortunately Trump nor most of the GOP won't listen.

So, you get points for calling this out. But it means NOTHING is you can't do anything about it! Don't bring us problems with no solutions.

Something I posted back on Nov 10

A reasonable transition requires reasonably structured and staffed executive agencies to transition into. We don't have that. And the "wrecking ball" -- as one article put it -- will continue through Jan 20. DT's inability to undo the work of decades written into the U.S. Code was accomplished by simply destroying the agencies tasked with implementing and enforcing.

There can be no "reasonable transition" to an executive branch that is riddled with rats and poison ivy (where agencies haven't been gutted).

The new Biden administration faces the biggest challenge any administration has faced. They need to engage in ruthless pest and weed control if they want to rebuild executive agencies capable of writing regulations that effectively enforce the U.S. Code.

There is a rough ride ahead for our next President. There can be no "bipartisanship" with the cronies, sycophants, and idiots that now populate executive agencies -- many of which will be tough to get rid of because they are in protected positions. I hope President Elect Biden recognizes the urgent need for a 'purge' and is preparing to carry it out when he assumes office.
