She said a few words and then introduced Joe at the press briefing. It seems as if he always has her come on first. It started on the night they gave their victory speeches. Usually the vice-president elect doesn't do that.
It seems he wants to include her in everything and keep her in the public eye.
Love him.

(19,264 posts)then having the VP have more of a spotlight than they traditionally do would be important to setup a solid run in 2024.

(3,321 posts)It will be a struggle, when isn't it a struggle, but we can get there. Much love to Kamala and to Joe.

I told him I wanted to be the last person in the room before he made important decisions. That's what I asked Kamala. I asked Kamala to be the last voice in the room."

(46,025 posts)I don't remember Obama putting Joe out there so much. Not that he should have. IMHO, this is quite unusual.

(2,248 posts)Biden's here for only one term. Do what he can to right the ship, then handoff to Kamala for 2024. She'll be a very visible VP.
Just a guess.

(63,899 posts)I think it will be a great service that he does for this country. I never dreamed we'd get our first woman president in this way but it's all right. After a time as his VP she'll will know what she needs to know and be able to take the reins. He learned well from two terms as Obama's VP so I trust him on this. I also admire him. He is a brave man, has gone through so much and retains outstanding qualities: leadership, humility and courage.

(6,008 posts)We're not out of the woods yet as far as it goes with the attempts of the non-so-crypto-fascist element that has subsumed the republican party to take over the country. Next time they won't have such a buffoonish team of incompetents running the show.
We need to do whatever it takes to maintain Democratic control of the government, particularly the presidency, for the next 12, preferably 16 years at least. It will take that long to fix what they smashed in 4, and to harden our systems of government against future attacks from within. If Biden running for a second term raises those chances, then he should do it.

(47,351 posts)He is giving his Vice President the courtesy and consideration that he feels a VP deserves. Probably also considering that Harris will probably be a presidential candidate some day, so he's giving her plenty of opportunities to shine.
This is a really good man.

(1,609 posts)I noticed he was giving Kamala a lot of exposure too. I also noticed he is keeping his promise by uplifting a lot of people that should have been uplifted decades ago.

(37,748 posts)Not that I ever didn't not like her, but I've recently become aware of her commanding yet genial presence I've never noticed in either a Pres or a VP prior to this, and I've become fully convinced she was the best possible choice Biden could have made.

(36,009 posts)She'll be heading projects, meeting with world leaders, and learning decisionmaking that matches her prosecutorial experience.
She will be up against opponents who won't have 1/10th the experience she'll have by 2024, and yet they'll disinform the 22% that she has no right to even run for office!
Until then, they'll be stalking her, flogging their base with their tired, old school "terrorist fistbump" dogwhistle treatment, and she'll be hardcore enough to experientially and rhetorically kick them to the curb.

(9,959 posts)And she is a great link not only to women and minorities, but also to a younger generation. Im happy with Joes actions so far, and I hope he channels FDR for his presidency. Joe has the potential to accomplish great things, especially if Georgia voters turn McConnell into the Minority Leader.

(6,836 posts)I think it may be more than that. I am not that much youger than Joe, and I am already having thoughts on li lones of "What if something happened to me." (Granted he's in better health than I am.) I think somewhere i his mind is that if something does happen to him, she will be able to hit the ground running. I pray it doesn't happen, but I applaud anyone who can admit his or her own mortality AND make plans for it. That person is a better person than someone who cannot.
