I imagine if it's a great concern, you're doing everything possible. Protesting, calling and emailing your applicable representatives, writing letters to the editors of local newspapers and such.

It's human nature to react with great vigor in a response to a situation that is deemed of great importance. It's also human nature to do nothing in response to a situation that is deemed not important at all.
