California imposes nighttime curfew 10pm to 5am

OAKLAND, Calif. — Gov. Gavin Newsom has ordered California into a state curfew, escalating his response to rapidly rising coronavirus numbers.

More than 94 percent of Californians must remain in their homes between 10 p.m and 5 a.m. unless performing essential activities. The requirement applies to the 41 counties that have landed in the state's most restrictive tier due to wide coronavirus spread.

“The virus is spreading at a pace we haven’t seen since the start of this pandemic and the next several days and weeks will be critical to stop the surge. We are sounding the alarm,” Newsom said in a statement. “It is crucial that we act to decrease transmission and slow hospitalizations before the death count surges. We’ve done it before and we must do it again.”

The curfew will start Saturday night at 10 p.m. and last until 5 a.m. on Dec. 21, more than a full month. To explain the curfew, Newsom's statement essentially said higher spread occurs during activities fueled by inebriation and late-night antics, warning of "social activities and gatherings that have a higher likelihood of leading to reduced inhibition."

rumor has it that the most recent increase was due to halloween parties and bars . id also include maskless , mask below the nose or wearing the shield w/o a mask ( that is only to pevent persons spitting u in the face ). the next county to our north calaveras ca is in code orange and they are opening up. lets hope they dont have stupid people like in my county , but they are a mostly red county too. wear the damn mask. you people who wear the mask improperly , or not at all make me sick. i am only concerned about myself and wear mask and WASH YOUR HANDS .

4. San Diego has set up a hotline to report violations and the Sheriff is sending out enforcmeent teams

So far they've sent cease and desist orders to 52 businesses and churches violating the rules with indoor operations and/or no masks or social distancing. The cheaters ranged from fraternity houses holding Halloween parties to strip show joints, megachurches, bars, restaurants, gyms, a yoga studio, a dance studio, and a boxing studio.

I feel for the businesses in the mountain areas where its down to 30 degrees. They can't survive by moving dining outside. I wish they would direct their anger not at the Governor, but at the idiots keeping megachurches open with signing and no mask enforcement, as well as at the bars still crowding people in illegally and the SDSU students doing stupid things, as well as all the morons having private gatherings and refusing to wear masks.

My daughter works in a COVID ward at a hospital without enough personal protective gear, and I've had it with the selfish jackasses putting healthcare workers lives at risk as well as hurting all the retailers and restaurants over the holiday season, when they really need income to makeup for months of losses.
