We were on a hike with our dog on-leash and a little kid asked "is that dog your prisoner?"

The other day we were on a hike with our dog on-leash and a little kid asked “is that dog your prisoner?” and it’s all I’ve been able think about since

they could not keep because they moved or allergies. So we have four dogs and a siamese cat in our thankfully king size bed every night .

(and that was actually true of a charity hike I did years ago with my last dog--who was a sure-footed as a mountain goat-- that I did with poor fitness preparation)

Seriously though, my 90 lb lab mix is intimidating looking. He’s a big love but he’s big, and very muscular.

He doesn’t need to be mowing people down in exuberance while trying to say hi.

Plus, leash laws.

organization, doing some writing for them, and at that time was attempting veganism. There were some people in this organization that didn't believe animals and human beings should live together. They viewed "pets" as having no choice in the matter, and didn't take into consideration factors like adopting dogs that had only known captivity and couldn't ever survive in the wild.

I still respect the organization, but some of their ideas were a little too far out for me. I decided to leave after about two months, not just for that reason but for a few reasons. Three years later I volunteered at an animal shelter and have had dogs ever since.

I totally admire vegans, by the way. My leaving had nothing to do with my failure to go 100% vegan.

I enjoy taking the two of them on trails in the woods --- so I can be off leash!!

And I draw the line at only one dog on my bed at a time. Six inches of bed space is just not enough.
