Some context would be good. Too busy/lazy to go to Snopes right now.

It is certainly something that is possible within the GOP bag of dirty tricks.

There is a man in the White House, who is trying to get the votes of Detroit, a city with almost 80% Black population, thrown out. Two White GOP canvassers tried to block certification of votes, folded, were called by this person, and are trying to rescind their votes to certify.

In that context, you don't think that more context is needed? At least the context of putting it in the Lounge would have been good. DUers go to the Lounge for the funny stuff.

And, welcome to DU.

Not to make light of those who suffer from PTSD for significantly traumatic experiences, but this country has been through 4 years of pretty legitimate trauma. The institutions we have held as solid, have been shaken to their cores in the span of Trump's administration. I have no illusions about the "good" of the GOP, especially since the time of Reagan onward, but they have become nothing more than shills for the wealthy, racist, sexist, etc... in the past 4 years.

The Onion, I am sure, has been struggling to outpace the sheer ridiculousness of actual new stories in the past 5 years.

and here we sit.

Going after the vote in Detroit and other places black vote is high kinda shows the truth of it.

The author says, not real, but "is it untrue?"

That is the thing about satire, as another poster stated providing "Poe's Law" it can be difficult to distinguish from reality.

The "color coded" voting guide can certainly be argued an interpreted as sarcasm, parody, satire, but then you have Lee Atwater's quote, you have Willie Horton, you have the Supreme Court gutting the Voting Rights Act and States like Texas, South Carolina, etc... straight up going after Black voters before the ink was even dry on the decision.

With this GOP and this president, it is difficult to distinguish parody with their actual dirty tricks.

Not sure if we will ever reach a turning point. Breaking up Facebook and putting Zuckerberg in a box seems essential.

So much fake info is persuading the right to hang themselves. Maybe we should stand back a bit?
