The elected Rethugs are playing the long game. They know not only that they can maintain the relationship with their base and at the same time they also know that no one will remember this two years from now. Its how they roll. No culpability ever for their actions. We are still paying for Jimmy Carters rabbit or Obamas tan suit. Thats forever,,,,

(54,770 posts)3. We have our long game too -- Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid and ACA are good. Economies have
done best under Democrats. And plenty more -- civil rights, support of unions, etc. For the future -- affordable education, child care, Public Option, better unemployment benefits, improved safety net, jobs programs, etc.
Hopefully, a significant portion of voters who keep supporting GOPers will wise up.
