Dr. Anthony Fauci told USA Today this week that those eager to maintain some semblance of their holiday traditions this year can rest easy and expect Santa to deliver their gifts safely as scheduled.
Santa is exempt from this because Santa, of all the good qualities, has a lot of good innate immunity, Fauci, the nations top infectious disease expert and a member of the White House coronavirus task force, said in an interview published Friday.

https://amp.scmp.com/news/world/united-states-canada/article/2179478/santa-claus-real-donald-trump-tells-seven-year-old
"US President Donald Trump set off a Christmas social media storm when he suggested to a seven-year-old girl that she was too old to believe in Santa Claus.
Twitter lit up like a Christmas tree after Trump made his remark during a holiday event with First Lady Melania Trump, taking calls from children who had phoned the North American Aerospace Defence Command (NORAD) Santa tracker, to check Saint Nicks progress. Some of the calls were transferred to the White House.
....
"Are you still a believer in Santa? Trump asked the child. Because at seven, its marginal, right?
In a twinkling, Twitter erupted at the president for casting doubts on a cherished fantasy of childhood.".....(more)
(WHY do Donald and Melanie hate Christmas as so much?)

(14,692 posts)Absolutely zero public health thoughts went into this. He really shouldn't be carried forward imho for lots of reasons.
Look, it shouldn't take a sociologist to realize there are tens of thousands of minimum wage people dressed up as santa during any normal holiday season, and each and every one of them can, and some likely will, carry covid.
But NO....... He had to go and tell kids that the santa's they see on the street won't have it and can't get it.
Doesn't anyone see a problem with that?
Yeah, I know, kids worry about the idealized santa at the north pole getting sick and disrupting Christmas. I get that. But in the real world, santa is not necessarily the best role model in real life, and certainly not someone you can surrender social distancing near just because of a costume..
"Bad Santa" really does exist, and this season, he could have covid. Keep your kids and family safe.
