Joe Biden must understand South Dakotans if he wants a national mask mandate

@RealDonalDrumpf
Joe Biden has to understand South Dakotans the way Gov. @kirstiealley & I understand them! South Dakotans know their freedom must not be impinged until the moment the hospital informs them, no, they cannot go into the ICU to say goodbye to their grandmas.

The Drumpf account is parody. The story he's commenting on is not, unfortunately. Mariana Nov 2020 #8

The OA links to a Washington Post article that is essentially an interview with a South Dakota physician. https://www.washingtonpost.com/nation/2020/11/09/doctor-coronavirus-election/

What is notable is the tone of resignation and regret, but not really the tone of outrage and sorrow that one might expect.

I think that the attitude towards death among Midwestern ranchers, farmers, and townspeople is a lot different from the attitude towards death among the bicoastal intelligentsia and media elite.

Part of it is religious. Many have a very strong religious belief in the afterlife, and they think that their loved ones have gone on to a higher and better existence in a place where they will eventually be reunited.

Part of it is fatalism. Life is hard. Death of loved ones is just one of the harder things life throws at you. But shutting down businesses is like plowing under your crop or shooting your herd - it's just not done.

American Society that has been truly Brain Washed by News Propaganda as well as Religious Propaganda. Having spent five decades in B to B Sales and service in that region,watched the morphing like a Glacier moving. Seemed to start with the Moral Majority-movement in the late sixties and the Nixon cuddling of these folks.

It took decades to get people to wear seat belts.

We don't have that kind of time.
