Conservative journalist melts down after publishers admit they have no interest in Trump's memoirs

November 21, 2020

By Sarah Toce

President Donald J. Trump may someday want to pen his own memoir about his experiences in the White House over a span of four years and the worst pandemic in over 100 years, but would anyone actually publish it?

New York Post‘s Kyle Smith wrote Saturday, “If Trump shows up with a book proposal in hand, lots of New York City’s snootiest publishers are going to respond by pulling up the drawbridge and lobbing rotten eggs out the windows.”

The response is a stark contrast to the anti-Trump tell-all titled Too Much and Never Enough that his niece, Mary Trump, published earlier this year. When it was released in July, it flew off the shelves, selling a whopping 1.35 million copies in its first week alone. There’s even talk now of a follow-up contribution by the author. She may have her own familial struggles to deal with if she proceeds; the author’s uncle, Robert Trump, took legal action to try and block the publication of Too Much and Never Enough, claiming his niece had signed a nondisclosure agreement. Robert, the president’s younger brother, died in August and the case failed to proceed.

“This is far beyond garden-variety narcissism,” his niece, who has a doctoral degree in clinical psychology, wrote of Trump. “Donald is not simply weak, his ego is a fragile thing that must be bolstered every moment because he knows deep down that he is nothing of what he claims to be.”

Volume 1 is Mary Trump's book that illustrates his early years.

Michael Cohen's book can show how Trump conducted himself as a corrupt businessman.

The third volume could be taken from John Bolton or some other WH insider to show the tumultuous and insane presidency.

The trilogy would also keep Trump from topping the Fiction best-seller lists, since his lies would never need to be published.

Because there is money to be made selling to his cult.

Mary Trump hit on something that I've been saying for ages. Trump is an extremely weak man. That is why he is so subject to flattery, and why dictators have him wrapped around their fingers. Anyone so desperate for adulation is someone completely without strength of character.

The largest book advance of all will be for Kellyanne when she is done with Trump.

She sold herself for money and fame, first with Cruz totally against Trump, and then switched over for more money and fame when Trump looked more favorable in the campaigns.

Her loyalty is for sale.

Was/is it irony when Kellyanne prostituted herself for money for Cruz or when she prostitutes herself for money for Trump?

But it didn't lead me to any sympathy for Donald, I don't think it was meant to.

My sister's friend sent it to her so the 60+ year old women have read it. I passed it along to a 22 year old woman who promised to pass it along to her friends.

My thanks to Tina for sending it along and of course to Mary Trump for just telling the story of the family that unintentionally created him.

Donald will never write anything more than a Twitter post and his mind is so tangled up by now, no one could ever make sense of his ramblings.

but I wouldn't buy it until it was on the remainder book rack and its cost was down to a dollar. But then again, I didn't buy Sarah Palin's book for the one dollar it was selling for when Borders went out of business. I'm pretty sure it would have been a similar read to Cheeto's memoirs.
