... Romney, for the correct vote. The others should have voted to impeach. Many of these names are not a surprise... but Rick Scott surprised me. I thought he was a true Trumpster.

Hell, we've arrived at the end of Trump's four years of tyranny and still not one of them is willing to step forward and publicly tell the Dumpster fire to do the right thing for once in his life.

Not a modicum of respect for any one of them.

They could break #Traitor's hold on the Republican party but they won't.

Fuck them

These Senators did not vote to convict Trump and remove him from office because they knew his voters would retaliate by refusing to vote for Republican Senators, and thus likely allowing Democrats to win control of the Senate. I think this scenario is what guided them in the impeachment trial vote. It was all about losing the majority. It’s also why they’re silent now. The majority is still on the line with the Georgia Senate race.

I think they badly miscalculated. They would have had around 10 months to get the Trump cult back on their side. After all, Trump nuts would not vote for Democrats ever.

Now, instead of having a clear end to Trump back in January when the Senate could have convicted him and ensured he could not run for any public office again, we have a degenerate who will not fade from sight after he leaves office but will instead manipulate Republican politics for the next several years by threatening the loss of his cult’s vote. He will tell his cult to vote for the most extremist candidates who want to tear down everything in sight, and anyone who speaks against him will be primaried.

Republicans have created their own nightmare, but unfortunately the rest of us will have to deal with the nightmare too. Republicans will gerrymander districts to wipe out gains Democrats made in House seats, and we could lose the majority in 2022. Trump will help get the worse House candidates possible elected.

during an impeachment trial in the Senate. He deserves to be considered apart from the rest of them on that basis alone. He may not be the opposition leader this nation needs right now, but he legitimately separated himself from the pack of cowards with that impeachment vote, which was about as public a repudiation of a corrupt president as is possible.

I don’t agree at all with Romney’s right wing views but at least he appears to have integrity and a measure of courage.
