I love being a nurse. Didn't exactly expect to be a new nurse in the middle of a highly politicized pandemic but life comes at you fast and even in a pandemic, there's nothing else I want to do. Caring for the sickest of the sick is an honor and I treasure my patients.
It is devastating to watch people die when those deaths were avoidable and it's even more devastating when you watch them die the same way, time after time after time. It's devastating that basic common sense and decency has been politicized.
Covid is a brutal disease and I wouldn't wish the worst of it on my worst enemy. Please understand that you aren't just protecting yourself, you are protecting the people around you.

(21,420 posts)about going home for Thanksgiving. Her college is testing all students before they leave campus. She didn't think the testing was all that important because she's not afraid of dying from covid. She said she knows that God has prepared a special, wonderful place for his followers when they die.
Such self-centered hubris. I really wanted to hear the interviewer ask what kind of place she thought God had prepared for people who murder other people by thoughtlessly spreading a deadly virus.

(32,620 posts)Seriously, when I was 19 or 20 I probably said something very similar to this.
I'm not reading anything political into what she said. That's how they all are at that age.

(21,420 posts)just plain stupid, or selfish. And deaf to all warnings. It's not as if nobody has been saying how we all need to think of each other in this pandemic. It's being said everywhere.
She cites her faith as the reason why she is not afraid, so she must be connected to some religious group or organization. When I was that age, my church taught us to think of others beyond ourselves, to be responsible members of a larger community.
I know that teens think they are invulnerable. But I also know that teens can be quite considerate of others and get involved in thoughtful, caring activities. So I don't understand how that girl could still be so unaware or indifferent to her possible effects on others during a pandemic.

(7,263 posts)I at times hate my Fellow Americans...at least the 40%+ who are fucking murderous asswipes, i.e. Rethuglican supporters.
Thank the goddess for the 60% who are sane, it's becasue of them I am still maintaining some sort of normalcy.

(10,495 posts)spent time loading an update on her computer Friday with no mask or gloves. He works out at the gym everyday and thinks that is where he caught Covid. I have only two more days at this firm because I am leaving after 18 years. Now I have to quarantine and my 83 year old mom lives with me.
What the Hell Dude! You go to a high risk gym and then go to employees offices without a mask or gloves! These selfish people have killed thousands!
