It was Pinzgauer with a 4 cyl air cooled engine.

Ran hot and slightly smokey for a few days. After that stopped we changed the spark plugs and the oil and it ran like a charm.

A mechanic suggested we retard the timing a degree or two after TDC but we couldn't find the timing mark so we blew that off.

I don't think you'll have a problem.

but it never smoked, so I don't know. Strange assed story, but I can't get into all the details. Just wondered about engine implications.
