The Republicans planned it to have challengers challenge votes illegally and indiscriminately without regard to a reasonable challenge. They planned stall, delay, cast doubt upon the election. It was all planned in advance, all the way back in August when they filed lawsuits to throw a wrench in to thing. It was literally, literally, a right wing conspiracy to suppress and damage the Democracy. This should never be forgotten, and legislatures must be tasked to keep this from happening again (permitting counters to count before election day is one good way to prevent that from happening).
