After fighting to delay it, the president’s legal team now says, “Certification by state officials is simply a procedural step.” Legal adviser Jenna Ellis adds, “We are going to continue combatting election fraud around the country as we fight to count all the legal votes.”

It is just a procedural step. As is...

-- Officially appointing the slate of electors.

-- Those electors voting.

-- Congress receiving the report of those votes.

-- The inauguration on January 20th.

Fact is, everything after people have finished voting is supposed to be merely a "procedural step,' all the way to the point where the newly-elected president begins their term of office.
