California has had 2 women Senators for many years. If a man is qualified, why not?

Lots of good candidates of both genders available.

Either way, I think the choice should be a person of color at the bare minimum.

There are a ton of women of color who fit that bill but I don't think that it should be a requirement, like a litmus test. as long as we are throwing names out there though, how about some love to the gente who make up almost 40% of the state's population.

Hilda Solis - First Latina in the CA Senate and former labor secretary under Obama.

Linda Sanchez - First Latina to serve on the Judiciary committee and weighs and means. Vice Chair of the House Democratic Caucus.

Lucille Roybal - First Mexican American woman elected to the House, period, in 1992! Has written and sponsored some much good legislation for women, immigrants and other, that it would be a crime to overlook her.

Whoever gets the seat has to represent all 40 million Californians: I'd like to see someone who has some experience outside of their own relatively small constituency.
