"COVID-19 spread to several travelers on a long-haul flight to New Zealand — likely from an infected passenger who had tested negative prior to departure, a new study says.

The outbreak on the 18-hour flight from Dubai in September also occurred despite passengers wearing masks and gloves during, according to a report Friday from the New Zealand Ministry of Health.

The infected traveler had tested negative using a PCR test within 48 hours of the flight departing and was experiencing no symptoms.

The NYPost article in the OP did link to the "original story," which was actually a report in a scientific journal and not the WaPo. I was not aware of the WaPo story on the same topic and had not seen this study reported elsewhere on DU. I thought it was useful information and that it would be helpful to the DU community in making choices. I would do the same again.

If I saw the story, I would look for another source, as I did. Turns out the disgraced Post story was days after the fact. They should never be used as a source based on their Hunter Biden slander.
