Joe Biden
@JoeBiden
The election is over.
Its time to put aside the partisanship and the rhetoric designed to demonize one another.
We have to come together.

Are we really going to reach across the aisle again? 80 million people did not stand in long lines & risk their well-being & even their lives so we could reach across the aisle & look forward. We will lose the House in 2022 if we do this & probably the WH in 2024.

Republicans come to the table in bad faith.

(37,160 posts)...but if they refuse it doesn't mean meeting them halfway. We already know that only encourages them to move the goalposts.
They're not inclined to give up the demonization rhetoric. Too many of them have made it their business model.

(2,574 posts)No quarter for the fascists who tried to end democracy in the US, and who are still intent on overthrowing the US government.
Unity means coming together to protect ourselves from fascists and fascism.

It's something Republicans would respect; think Bush/Cheney.

(7,012 posts)Good cop! Bad cop! That is one huge mistake that that dump always made. Instead of having his cult members and stooges spread the manure, he could not help himself and had to spread the manure himself.
The only problem is, that stench sticks with the one that is doing the spreading.

Throwing red meat at the angriest among our side and governing as if they're the only people in the country he needs to satisfy.
Thank God, that's not what he's going to be or do.

(12,286 posts)Just read this thread.
Actually read it.
People are pissed and want revenge. Or justice.
That anger is justified.
But they do want a trumpian anti-Trump strong man to exact revenge and mere out justice to those who deserve it.

(9,952 posts)of vile, vulgar, racist, hateful, criminal behavior. Ya, people are pissed. Everyone should be pissed.
Consequences for ones action is important in every civilized society.
To compare what people are talking about a version of Trump is bullshit. BIG difference between justice, and Trump. You can't see it? Not my issue.

(23,340 posts)"Partisanship" has been hardening ever since Newt Gingrich (and maybe earlier). McConnell will fight such a notion.
It sounds good, though, and I hope for success.

(54,013 posts)Maybe it won't be like under Clinton and Obama where they started demonizing and sabotaging the administration from day one. Maybe this time they will restrict their arguments to honest critiques of policy differences while seeking out genuine opportunities for bipartisan efforts to put the country first.
Yes, maybe that will happen

(7,012 posts)but I gotta tell you what I have observed over the last four years, and that is that there is a serious totalitarian strain that is running through the Republican party and in America. Just look at how many people voted for dump. I truly hope this can be turned around, for my kids sake anyway.

(11,468 posts)Continues on. Glad we have older stable guy but he obviously isn't on social media to see where all the red/blue wars are.
He was on tv this morning, it actually cut off my show to let him introduce some of his people, it was nice to see John Kerry again. My husband from next room heard him talking about god or something religious and said why does he have to bring that in? I said honey he is old school, but we need some old school to balance us.
But thinking we will be friends with the republicans after all they did thats too much.

They don't get good feelings like the last 20 years hasn't happened.
And I'm not like Kevin Bacon in Animal House saying, "Thank you, sir, may I have another?"
