I thank all of you so much. This has been a lot of fun for me. Thanks to mnhtnbb for suggesting the theme of IN THE SHADOWS
The participation was instant and fast and I really appreciated that.
Urbanhermit needs to think of a theme to convey to Dyedinthewoolliberal who will host the January Contest.
In December Californiapeggy will host the Autumn Seasonal Contest.
I loved many of the entries, and was very happy with the winners. I do though want to show you the gripping / lovely portrait of Edward - photo by CurtEastPoint one more time.
It is an additional hostess choice.
It almost makes me want a cat (but dont tell Dixiegrrrrl, she has been hounding me about getting a cat).

(31,371 posts)I hoped the theme would be inspirational and DU Photographers did not disappoint.
Today I was reading Peter Strzok's book, Compromised: Counterintelligence and the Threat of Donald J. Trump, and here is a quote from page 13
Congratulations, again, to all, and thanks to Mira for hosting the contest!
We still have openings for volunteers to host in 2021. Please see this thread to sign up to host in either March or October!

(14,557 posts)My wife and I have four rescues and they have enriched our lives so much it isn't even funny. I love those cats!
I mean, think of it this way:
Life is long. We are born screaming and naked. If we are really lucky we live with a loving family, nothing really bad happens to us, and we have the chance to get a good education. Then we work fifty years, and most of us leave the labor force and come down with painful diseases that sap our very humanity until our bodies are little more than husks. Then we pass on.
So what is the purpose of it all? Of any of it? What keeps us going in the face of such existential angst?
If you read your Frankl, you will know that we gain purpose in life from three things:
1. Love for our families, and our human family in general,
2. Devotion to a cause greater than ourselves, and
3. Kittens!

Mira, I'll admit when I saw your take a rake break in the submission thread I thought I didn't have a chance.

(22,380 posts)What gets me about it is that the vortex at the end simply sucked me in more and more. Love that photo and will not forget it.
We are all the better for having had a chance to see it.
