Privacy Policy
Parler

Parler, LLC and its affiliates (Company, we, our, and/or us) value the privacy of
individuals who use our social news application, website, and related services (collectively, our
Services). This privacy policy (the Privacy Policy) explains how we collect, use, and share
information from users of our Services (Users, you, and/or your) to facilitate your
commenting, social news, and influencer networking experience. By using our Services, you

the Privacy Policy, your use of our Services is also subject to our User Agreement
https://legal.parler.com/documents/useragreement.pdf

parties or share your information with foreign governments except in the limited circumstances
described in this Privacy Policy (see How We Share the Information We Collect below for
more detail).
Information We Collect
We may collect a variety of information from or about you or your devices from various
sources, as described below.
A. Information You Provide to Us.
Registration and Profile Information. When you sign up for an account, we may collect
information such as your name, email address, username, and profile photo.
Influencer Network Information. If you choose to join our influencer network, we may ask for
information that can be used to verify your identity, such as a copy of your government-issued
photo identification, and information that can be used to facilitate the redemption of virtual
items or payments, such as your Social Security number (SSN) or your tax identification number.
We delete your government-issued photo identification information when it is no longer
necessary to verify your identity.
User Content. We collect any information you choose to provide on our Services, such as posts,
photos, videos, gifs, comments, votes, and echoes.
(Bolding is mine)
So yes.... Many Parler members SS numbers and IDs probably where compromised if they chose to join the 'Influencer Network'. And what self respecting fascist and Trumpazoid wouldn't want to join such a fancy, powerful sounding network?
Tots and Pears idiots...
Edited to add: Any doubt that the Trumpazoids have about the security of Parler MUST be exploited. Their ingrained paranoia will be their downfall when all is said and done.
Sow the fields folks.....plant the doubt.
Peace.

(7,780 posts)How easy would it be for fraudsters to hoodwink MAGAts? Embarrassingly easy.
The red half of our nation appears to exist on the left side of the distribution curve.

(37,182 posts)their hard earned money to any right wing grifter, megachurches, Trump, right wing websites, etc. that comes along.
At least with taxes they would get actual services that could save their miserable lives.

(33,643 posts)so they ostensibly need it for tax purposes. And that info would almost certainly be kept entirely separate from the operation of the site itself. The 'accounting' server, not 'the web server', the latter of which was compromised.
I mean it's POSSIBLE they flubbed that up and actually kept the SSN's on the same database server as the one that drives the site, but that would be so egregiously wrong of a thing to do it's almost unfathomable. Exposing these credentials was a screw-up but would involve one tiny mistake. It's not a massive architectural flaw like storing such data on the wrong server.
And I'm pretty sure you can't just up and decide to 'be an influencer' and start getting paid by the site. You need to show you have bona-fides like 10,000 twitter followers or some shit like that.
revmclaren
(2,613 posts)But it doesn't really matter. Distrust is ingrained in these Yahoo's. Many will no longer trust the site.
This is a good thing.
mr_lebowski
(33,643 posts)It's that they accidentally exposed the credentials to the site's database via a public API where anyone could get to it.
But the database that drives the site would be (or most definitely should be) different from the accounting database that would have personal info. It's like 'design 101'. Doubt they flubbed that up.
And having the site's DB credentials doesn't (or should not) give you any insights into the accounting DB's credentials.

They collect that information from influencers only, not regular users, and so that they can handle payments. The pdf you link says it's for tax purposes and that they may file forms with the IRS.

(110,217 posts)but choosing not to highlight part of that sentence was valid decision. Many people who decide to become "influencers" because they're deluded enough to think that sounds good, won't be aware of the the ramifications.

Bit of nitpicking to worry about what is highlighted in Parlor and what it will mean to the Trumpsheeple.
Why so concerned? It's all good. Right?

(59,877 posts)Give us your social security number and photo ID. While you're at it, why not give us your credit cards with expiration dates and security codes, and your bank account info including passwords. Make us your sole beneficiaries of your will, too, if you think of it.
We promise that we will not make use of your information anywhere in the United States, except during months whose names end in "ber" or with the letter "y." This promise is not valid in the Cayman Islands, the Netherlands Antilles, the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, the Principality of Liechtenstein, or the Principality of Monte Carlo (c'est le français que vous ameriez PARLER pas hasard?)
