dual stacks think it is cool. I don't know if it is some additive they inject or disabling the emissions but they
make them smoke so much you are blinded if you are behind them. To them it is a middle finger to the tree huggers.

OTOH . . .

A federal judge has ordered the custom truck makers from the television show “Diesel Brothers” to pay $851,451 to the U.S. government and Davis County for polluting Utah’s air.

The price tag is likely to rise for David “Heavy D” Sparks, David “Diesel Dave” Kiley and other defendants in the case. U.S. District Court Judge Robert Shelby, in his order issued Friday, said the plaintiffs, Utah Physicians for a Healthy Environment, may submit their attorney fees for the defendants to pay.

Cole Cannon, a lawyer for the “Diesel Brothers,” on Monday said the plaintiffs’ attorneys earlier told the judge they had fees of $1.2 million.

The defendants are to pay $761,451 to the federal government and $90,000 to Davis County. Shelby last year found the “Diesel Brothers” violated the Clean Air Act and Utah law by removing pollution control devices from trucks they were modifying as part of their TV show.

get a fine from the EPA? I've been behind trucks that do this and thought about a dash cam just for it.

The technology to bypass the controls is very simple and easy. In PA they just turn it back on for annual emissions testing and disable it again.

Most of the trucks with this disabled aren't visibly 'rolling coal', that takes additional tuning. Most of these trucks seem normal to an outsider. They do it as it significantly improves performance.

He even installed big chrome smokestacks on either side of the cab, that belch out black smoke. He also drives like an idiot, so it's just a matter of time before we see that piece of shit on the back of a wrecker truck. I just hope he doesn't hurt anyone in the process.

6. These aftermarket tuners are available for just about every OBDII equipped vehicle

It’s not just diesel trucks. Nearly every car on the road can have a device like this installed in a few minutes in the driveway. At least half of them are outright scams. The other half work erratically and often cause engine damage as well as emissions problems.

Vehicle owners don’t buy these products to “own the libs”; they do it because they want better gas mileage, or they want to tow a heavy trailer and believe this is a good way to temporarily “tune” their drivetrain for that. They are usually being ripped off by these products.

The manufacturers and sellers of these products are the main problem. The factory code is there for good reasons that the aftermarket manufacturers don’t care about. It is all about money.

The “rolling coal” bubbas are a separate, special breed of asshole. They spend a huge amount of money on their modifications, which have only one purpose: to make lots of noise and smoke. I’d like to see legislation allowing law enforcement to permanently confiscate vehicles modified that way.
