He knows he is guilty but that will not save him in New York.

A pardon I will accept without any admission of guilt.

I’m not saying it’s legal or it will hold up, but this is kinda what I expect if Trump goes this route. Any chances he walks out of office without a pardon because he doesn’t think he did anything wrong?

What if Trump actually believes that he's innocent of any wrong doing? What if he doesn't pardon himself or resign so Pence can pardon him?

It would be the height of stupidity for Trump to leave himself-- and his family and friends-- vulnerable. But this is Trump.

What a shitshow.

I saw Joyce Alene Vance talking to someone on MSNBC last night discussing this topic and she claims these pardons will be illegitimate and could be overturned or ignored because of the direct involvement of the grantor in the crimes or something to that effect.

or any federal congressional inquiry where he is called to testify.

If he refuses to testify, or lies in his testimony under oath, he can be criminally charged, and that will not be covered by the pardon. Neither will future crimes which I am sure he is already plotting to commit.

I think Rudy's job is safe for the foreseeable future.

I don't know whether or not he'll self pardon. I don't know if he'll actually be the republican candidate in 2024. But if he self-pardons, it won't stop him from trying to get the nomination and it won't hurt him at all with his supporters. They won't view it as an admission he did anything wrong, but rather as a step he had to take he had to take to protect himself from being "unfairly" prosecuted for crimes that they don't believe he committed in the first place.

Imagine Trump trying to run in 2024.

He lost the popular vote in both his election runs.

He'll be a one-term loser.

Trump was impeached!

He'll be either self-pardoned or pardoned by Pence meaning he will have admitted to crimes. (This is something Republicans don't seem to understand: a pardon confirms criminal culpability.)

Yeah, that candidate looks like a winner.

NOT.
