(129,662 posts)like the east coast cities did in the spring when we were hit pretty bad? The National Guard (medical specialists) was brought in to setup some of these facilities...
In some cases, the major hospitals could offload their routine hospital patients to the surge locations to free up beds that needed access to the necessary equipment to handle the covid patients, and in other cases, the surge places either took "recovering" covid patients who were close to transitioning out, again to free up beds, or ended up with some full blown covid patients.
