Biden under pressure to remove Trump transgender military ban quickly

One of the first military policy changes President-elect Joe Biden is expected to make when he takes office is repealing President Trump's ban on transgender service members.

During the campaign, Biden indicated that lifting the ban would be a "day one" priority, but it is unclear if he will indeed act on his first day in office or if the issue will have to wait a bit longer.

Either way, transgender troops and their advocates expect the ban to repealed quickly, and they say there is no reason not to act immediately.

"This is something I've been waiting a very long time for, so obviously I would love to see this go through as quickly as possible," said Nicolas Talbott, a transgender man who was in the Army ROTC program at the time the ban took effect and is a plaintiff in one of the lawsuits against the policy.

He's championed across the board lbgtq policies for years.

The only thing left to do is for him to be sworn in as President on Jan 20, 2021.

Who do you love? Who do you love? And will you be loyal to the person you love? And that’s what people are finding out is what all marriages, at their root, are about.”
Joe Biden, “Meet the Press,” May 6, 2012

Joe Biden believes that every human being should be treated with respect and dignity and be able to live without fear no matter who they are or who they love.
During the Obama-Biden Administration, the United States made historic strides toward LGBTQ+ equality—from the repeal of “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” to Biden’s historic declaration in support of marriage equality on Meet the Press in 2012 to the unprecedented advancement of protections for LGBTQ+ Americans at the federal level.

But this fight’s not over. Donald Trump and Mike Pence have given hate against LGBTQ+ individuals safe harbor and rolled back critical protections for the LGBTQ+ community.
By blocking the ability of transgender individuals to openly serve their country, denying LGBTQ+ people access to critical health care, proposing policies allowing federally funded homeless shelters to turn away transgender people and federally funded adoption agencies to reject same-sex couples, and failing to address the epidemic of violence against transgender people—particularly transgender women of color—the Trump-Pence Administration has led a systematic effort to undo the progress President Obama and Vice President Biden made.

because the trans guy he appointed to his Pentagon transition team, and the defense department, will be handling it.

I was just literally rolling my eyes at the "pressure" noise. Compared to the many immediate huge, huge, huge crises that have already landed like truckloads of national and global bricks, how could he possibly notice pressure not to leave it to day two?

Btw, a new study was released last weak showing that the ban has hurt America's military readiness "across the board," damaging recruiting and morale, including through shameful discriminatory and persecutory intraservice policies.
