It makes me wonder if the post-1918 pandemic survivors felt the same way. Sure, we'll have to lay low for a while but eventually, I trust things will get better.

with her mother.

For some reason it never occurred to either of us.

put it out of their minds. I don't find that many of the great literature writers of that time wrote much about it, either.

This time, it is different. Much has already been written and recorded.

actually mentioned the 1918 pandemic to her more than once - but for some reason my mother didn't follow up.

6. A maternal 'Great Aunt' of mine survived the 1918 pandemic.

She was a Teenager.

All she ever said about it was:
"I was so sick. So pain-wracked. I prayed that God would just take me."

Thank God she survived.

She was the mother of the Priest that married me.

She was the mother of my Godfather.

Ever - even after the pandemic. My mother doesn't remember ever having influenza, but recently found some records from her mother that indicates she had it once, as a child. She's certainly never had it in her adult life (she's now 88).
